Rogdia village is located 16 kilometers west of Heraklion, above the valley of Paleokastro at an altitude of 300 meters offering an amazing view of the city of Heraklion and the sea.
The inhabitants of the village, which according to the 2011 census amount 797 persons, have as main occupation farming and agriculture.
Historically the village was first mentioned in a document of 1248. Here were scattered Venetian villas, obviously serving the nearby Venetian fortress of Paleokastro and the Venetian palace of Modinos family, feudal lords of the area, which still exists.
