Gagales village is located about 50 kilometers from Heraklion at an altitude of 255 meters. With about 300 inhabitants, Gagales is a traditional village.

The main occupations of the inhabitants are mainly agricultural such as production of olive oil, cereals, raisins and forage crops, as well as artichoke production in the winter.
