Filippi village or else Filippou, is built 50 km south of Heraklion city and at 240 m height.

The village hosts the church of Timios Prodromos. Also, some meters above the village starts a hiking path of middle difficulty which exits at the beautiful beach of Tsoutsouras.

Historically the village was mentioned in 1583 as the region of Belvedere, with the name Filippu which had 52 residents.
