The village of Ano Kera is located 42 km from the city of Agios Nikolaos and 46 km from the city of Heraklion, being the last village of the municipality of Heraklion on the border with the Lassithi plateau.
It is a village of about 100 inhabitants, which is one of the two settlements that make up the local community of Kera. Kera got its name from the Monastery of Keras Kardiotissas that is nearby.
