Agios Georgios village is located at the plateau’s Lasithi district, is separated into two villages, the Kato Chorio or Agios Georgios and the Pano Chorio or Plathianos.

The village, with almost 500 residents, is named after its church which is dedicated to the Christian saint Saint Georgios.

According to tradition people from the surrounding villages after the collapse of their houses, moved to Agios Georgios which led to the rising of population and therefore the creation of the village.
