At the foothills of Psiloritis mountain, almost 25 km southwest of Heraklion and very close to Krousonas, is located the historical monastery of Agia Eirini.

It is one of the oldest monasteries of Crete, built-in 650 m height with an impressive view. According to old documents, the church starts to appear in the 16th century, although it is said that it was built in 14th or 15th century.   

The beautiful church of Agia Eirini, which now is a women monastery, is accessible only through the road that connects Krousonas village with the Livadi plateau.
