The church of Agios Georgios is located 23 km southwest of Heraklion at Krousonas village.
The church was built before the Greek revolution of 1821 by a local woman, who in fact rebuilt a church that had been ruined, which also was dedicated to Agios Georgios.
According to a traditional myth, below the church, the ground was so hard that it was impossible to build the foundation. But during nighttime, the ground becomes soft again so that made it possible for the church to be built.
