The church of St. Antonios is located in Agiofarago or Gorge of the Saints, one of the most famous gorges of Crete, south of Heraklion. Its located 250 meters before the beach.

It is very impressive with great architecture and its existence dates back to the 13th century. In the early stages it seems to simply there was a small chapel in cave of the rock. Later, due to the increase of the monks and because it serves as a center of asceticism in the region where all the religious liturgies were renovated and raised several times. The recent reconstruction seems to became the 14th or 15th century.

Outside the church there is a well which supplied water ascetic monks of the region.
