The catholic church of Chania, which is dedicated to Holy Mary, is the seat of the catholic Bishopric of Crete and the parish church of the catholic parish of the city.
Directly adjacent, it is located the monastery of the Capuchin monks, which was founded by the monks who arrived in Chania in 1566 after the order of the Pope. They also built the "College" just next to it which is a hospital.
The church is operational until today.
