A little further from the town of Tympaki, as we go south, is the village and the beach of Kokkinos Pirgos. The name of the area came from the tower that existed there and was built with red soil.

At this particular sandy beach, the visitor will meet the Caretta Caretta turtles that spawn there during the summer months.

The area has a touristy character and is a very memorable and beautiful place to visit. On the beach you will find mainly locals who enjoy the sun and the sea of southern Crete.
