Gournes are located almost 17 km east of Heraklion and are one of the closest to the city tourist attractions.

The sandy coastline is forming small bays and beaches of which the main beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds.

 Near to Gournes beach where it used to be the American Base, now you can find the aquarium “Cretaquarium – Thalassokosmos”, which hosts hundreds of visitors every day.
