Amnisos beach is located 7 kilometers east of Heraklion. It is essentially the continuation of the bay of Karteros and is a beautiful sandy beach with shallow waters.
It is quite clean, as it has many sea urchins and is a place of attraction for those who prefer quietness and isolation.
Reference is made to Homer's Odyssey where it characteristically mentions that this area was difficult to be anchored.
In addition, they have been found several ancient buildings there such as the Minoan port and the villa where several frescoes of 1600 BC were found.
