Very close to Karavopetra beach and 3 km east of Siteia at Trypitos peninsula a Hellenistic town was discovered which is spread through the whole peninsula.
According to the archaeologists the town which is built on a hill in the town of Siteia, Iteia, where during the Hellenistic period Minoans kept and repaired the ships.
Trypitos separates the peninsula from the shore with a great wall which also protected the town from invasions.
Important findings have been discovered at Trypitos such as a warehouse, a tank, stone-built roads and a mint.
